Tamara started Xplore Communications in 1999 after being told in her one-year review that she thought too much outside of the box in her creative marketing position. A week later she put together a business plan to start a college guide (an idea conceived as a student resident assistant) and it was published less than 6 months later! Although only 23-years old, Tamara had a strong marketing background working for Coca Cola, AT&T, JVC Music, Cigna Insurance, American Standard, and NJ Transit! Over the past ten years, Tamara continues to stay on top of the newest technologies, latest marketing trends and changes within the communities she works in. She has grown from a college marketing agency to small business consultant to community builder! Tamara finds inspiration in local small-business owners (300+ clients), who have built businesses from the ground-up and face the same struggles and challenges and successes as she does with Xplore. But business isn’t her only strength – Tamara volunteers as much as work. She is an active alumni at Rutgers University serving on an elected board for the Alumni Association and selected as a Rutgers Loyal Daughter. In 2005, she was honored with the Top 40, Under Forty business award by NJ Biz. In 2008, Hudson County acknowledged her as a Woman of the Arts. Tamara is also a board member for Hudson County Child Abuse Prevention and offers assistance with the Covenant House in Newark, many Food Banks and the Boys & Girls Clubs. Tamara is a Newark resident with her husband, Kai and raises her two daughters in the city. She continues to create community by organizing Newark Mommies, volunteers for the Newark Public Library and more. Her energy and passion never seems to fade and she is always waiting with a smile!
